Transitional reporting arrangements
A new Statutory Order was issued in February 2014 that amended the rules for reporting. If you had products registered for modified reporting before February 2014, you may be covered by transitional reporting arrangements.
The following combinations of packaging and types of reporting registered before February 2014 are covered by a transitional arrangement:
- modified reporting of glass packaging with primary marking;
- modified reporting of plastic packaging with primary marking; and
- modified reporting of metal packaging with primary marking
We will contact you if you are covered by the transitional reporting arrangements when you register a new item of packaging.
If you have any questions, please contact the Department of Providers and Quality.
Modified reporting of glass packaging with primary marking
We recommend that you change to detailed reporting for your entire product range. If your total sales exceed 2.5 million items of packaging per year, you must switch to detailed reporting. Please note that, if you decide to change from modified reporting to detailed reporting, you will not be able to change back to modified reporting.
As previously, modified reporting requires that you not go into receivership or owe money to Dansk Retursystem.
- If you only have glass bottles in your range of products and register a new product in glass packaging: no change. You may continue using modified reporting as long as you only have glass packaging and your total sales do not exceed 2.5 million items of one-way packaging per year. If you exceed 2.5 million items, you need to change to detailed reporting.
- If you only have glass bottles in your range of products and register a product in plastic or metal packaging: you must report in detail for your products in plastic or metal packaging, but you will continue to report at a modified level for your products in glass as long as you only sell more than 1 million items of glass packaging. This means that you have two different reporting types.
Modified reporting of plastic packaging with primary marking
Please note that, if you decide to change from modified reporting to detailed reporting, you will not be able to change back to modified reporting.
As previously, modified reporting requires that you not go into receivership or owe money to Dansk Retursystem.
- You have plastic packaging (and possibly metal) in your range of products and register the first product in glass packaging: no change. You may continue modified reporting for all your products as long as your total annual sales do not exceed 2.5 million items of one-way packaging.
- You have plastic packaging (and possibly metal) in your product range and register another product in plastic packaging: you may continue modified reporting for all your products as long as your total annual sales do not exceed 2.5 million items of one-way packaging.
- You only have plastic packaging (and possibly metal) in your product range and register the first product in metal packaging: you must use detailed reporting for the metal packaging, but you may continue modified reporting for the plastic and glass packaging as long as your total annual sales do not exceed 2.5 million items of one-way packaging. This means that you have two types of reporting. We recommend that you change to detailed reporting for all your packaging.
